If you think 218 extra houses is ENOUGH please respond to the Neighbourhood Plan

There is currently extant planning permission for 218 more homes in Shiplake along the A4155. That's Retirement Village 65, near Tower House 2, Kemble Mews 4, Thames Farm 95, Thames Farm Barns 4, Mount Ida 8, Wyevale 40. (And there's a new application for another 20 going in for the field opposite the War Memorial.) If you think that's enough please say so by responding to the Neighbourhood Plan consultation. The original objective of 33 more homes has been achieved seven times over.

Its a pity that the people who give planning consent do not live in or near Shiplake. Already the number of new approved houses completely wreaks the idea that Shiplake is a village. How the area will be able to cope with no New Doctors Surgeries, New schools, Waste collection and Public services put under extreme pressure. The A4155 which is already very dangerous, so the increased pedestrian presence it will just add to that danger. Thus I am totally against any new development.

Peter, the Retirement Village, the houses next to Tower House, Kemble Mews and Mount Ida are all in the parish of Shiplake. Crossways, Thames Farm and Wyevale are technically in the parish of Harpsden but sit right on the parish boundary with Shiplake. In planning terms they have all cited proximity to Shiplake village as justification why their development is 'sustainable'.

Mr Walker, I am happy to clarify that the upcoming application for 20 houses is diagonally opposite the War Memorial on a field that is part of Crossways, not Pete's Acre.

Whilst I entirely agree with you David, we should remember that the majority of this land does not actually sit within the parish boundary. Barking mad I know but true nevertheless as it is this village that has the burden and consequences of these planning permissions but none of the benefits which accrue to Henley and Harpsden under their joint plan. 218 extra houses is more than enough, but the writers of our NP should use care in how they present this information within the documents.

Mr Bartholomew, can I just point out that the new application for 20 houses is not in the field opposite the war memorial it is in fact in the field further along the Reading Road which is attached to and owned by Crossways, before anybody thinks that the application is in Petes Acre. Maybe you could correct this in your post, regards Pete Walker.
