Latest Thames Farm Drainage Proposals - June 2021
The above can you be viewed at Planning Application P20/S2808/DIS (southoxon.gov.uk)
Submitted 25th June but viewable from 29th June.
There is a wealth of supporting information but I cannot see anything relating to the hydrogeology and depriving the aquifer of water and thus affecting the pumping station. It may be that this does not fall under the drainage strategy. Similalrly what about grouting the site?
No details that I could see regarding consultation and closing date.

Response from Thames Water to the new drainage proposals is Thames Water are unable to support the discharge of this condition for the reasons outlined below. Reasons on the SODC web site for those interested @ https://data.southoxon.gov.uk/ccm/support/dynamic_serve.jsp?ID=1500682988&CODE=5994A346D0372A16E20CC095B6C38AF2

It is proposed that foul water will be pumped (similar comments) to an intersection with the existing sewer infrastructure close to the war memorial. In addition Thames Water will need to increase the size of the sewer in Station Road - the increase is large. Residents need to be aware of the disruption that will be caused by this increased sewer infrastructure. It is unclear to me what happens to this discharge at the lower end of Station Road and the effect of the increased flows.

Surface water runoff to the site is to be pumped northwards and then by gravity into the Thames adjacent to the Henley Town Council recreation grounds. The estimated runoff volumes appear to be less than previous studies but that could be due to my reading of the documentation and/ or retention pond sizing. Key is that it will be pumped and responsibility for it passed on to Thames Water - presumably powered by electricity - no mention of sustainable energy provision.

The new drainage plan appears to be predicated on the grouting of the site but there is no hydrogeological information on the effects on the aquifer and public water supply abstraction c50m from the site. Grouting may well require the enlargement of the aquifer protection zone and its affect on local residents.

I am pressing for an update on all aspects of the 'grouting' operation.

TFAG has downloaded all of the new documents and circulated them to our professional advisors. It will take a little time to digest all of this information and as Stephen says there appears to be some information about grouting but not a lot. Since returning from Devon over the weekend, I have reviewed the response received from Adrian Duffield and drafted TFAGs response which the team and advisors are reviewing. TFAG are due to meet on Thursday evening to discuss matters generally. Peter
