Volunteers needed to help assess Retirement Village RM

The Parish Council need your help. The Shiplake Retirement Village has outline planning permission, and the Parish council is now being asked for comments on the ‘Reserved Matters’; a huge body of documents the developer has submitted. CLICK HERE We are looking for volunteers to help Parish Councillors review documents in the following topic areas: Drainage, Lighting, Trees & Ecology, Access & Highways matters and Visual Impact. Would you be willing to work with a councillor to review some documents during November? Please email cpenrose@shiplakepc.com stating which topic you could help with. Many thanks

Brilliant news.

UPDATE: SODC have now agreed to extend the time individual residents (as well as the Parish Council) have to respond to the Retirement Village application until December 3rd (and it is therefore no longer November 5th). SODC will update their website to reflect this change which may give you extra time to review the many documents.

Just to highlight that the deadline for individuals to comment is this week.

You may wish to review the application for yourself and make your own comments known to SODC. It is worth noting that these must relate to choice of approaches the developer wishes to make, and their suitability to Shiplake Parish, rather than the principle of building 65 retirement homes, which was already granted. You may wish to consult David Bartholemew's comments (available online now in the SODC website) and those of Shiplake Parish Council (in due course)

Many thanks to all who responded for the Parish Council’s call for help in assessing the Retirement Village’s Reserved Matters application and its many documents. To keep you updated on next steps: We have now formed four working groups, led by a councillor, to consider individual topics: drainage, visual impact, highways&access, lighting &trees. We will collate these team’s comments and respond as Shiplake Parish Council. We have been granted an extra month (until 3 December) to comment
