Reading Road, an ''Owl blackspot''
The Reading Road at Shiplake is clearly an 'Owl blackspot', barn and tawny owls regularly sit in the road. Early this morning I alerted a speeding motorist to a tawny owl, but on seeing the owl he accelerated and ran it over. The owl spent today at Henley Veterinary Centre, it has a broken wing, concussion and a sore eye but it will probably survive. Tonight I ran it up to Tiggywinkles. We need these sensors along the road there: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-11694364

Wonderful news! I had to wait two weeks before I was allowed to phone Tiggywinkles. When I rang yesterday I was told 'my' tawny owl was fully recovered, able to fly again and ready to be released back into the wild today, as we read this he is flying free again tonight! He didn't have a broken wing, he had a shoulder injury along with a head trauma. I am going to contact Barn Owl Trust ref the 8impls reflectors which would make the Reading Road at Shiplake far less of a hot spot for owls.
