For info; Planning Appeal Decision for land adj Ridgeways, New Road

The Appeal on the application for 4 houses on land next to Ridgeways on New Road has been dismissed by an Inspector, who commented as follows:
“-the proposal would have a significant urbanising effect upon this attractive rural area and would not respect the landscape setting of the village--the harm that would be caused to the character and appearance of the area would be significant--“

This land is a 'preferred' Site 6 in the draft Neighbourhood Plan.

Perhaps of use for OAP home fight.

Mr Wright, a Town Planner a Development Surveyor and 2 very experienced Councillors involved in Planning on pretty much a daily basis are on the SG. I think between us we can interpret a decision.

As far as listening is concerned, there has been 700 questionnaires analysed, 325 votes at an exhibition analysed not to mention the 80 people who specifically selected New Road as a suitable place for development. I would be obliged if you do not say we are not listening. We do, but to all not a few.

The Steering Group will naturally review this decision in context over the coming weeks.
In the meantime and given the wording of the decision, personally I would be amazed if the owners did not now submit an Application for a larger number of units as the Inspectors report made it clear that he was required to weigh up the potential gains from just 4 houses. Planning is a complex subject!

Joanne, The NP Steering Group and also the PC have registered their separate objections with the Planning Inspectorate to the Retirement Homes Appeal and also objections have been submitted by individual members as local residents. A independent landscape consultants report has also been commissioned in tandem with the NP landscape report and will be submitted as evidence when there is a call for evidence to be submitted.
