New Road Appeal Hearing report
Yesterday was the Appeal Hearing for the the proposed erection of 25 homes at New Road on the land above Shiplake Meadows. The Hearing was held in Wallingford. Thank you to the c.100 Shiplake parish residents who provided their written response to the Appeal and also to those who attended the Hearing in person.
The Appeal Inspector focused on questions such as:
-Is the site within the built-up area of Lower Shiplake and is it infill
-If it would have an impact on the character and appearance of New Road and Lower Shiplake,
-Is the site sustainable/accessible
-Whether a technical Planning item is triggered (Para 14 of the NPPF)
SODC put forward the case opposing the Appellant with external experts support. The PC and local residents, as third parties in the Appeal, presented material throughout defneding our made policy-based Neighbourhood Plan and the village's interests. Special thanks to residents Karen Cooper, Rhiannon Davies and Mike Edwards who prepared a strong case on behalf of residents and who spoke eloquently throughout the Hearing.
We should know the Inspectors decision in around 4 or 5 weeks.
